I used to volunteer some time at a nearby university when a new influx of students arrived knowing that many new arrivals were going to struggle with cooking in halls of residence.

All the recipes here follow the same remit:


  • They use readily available cooking utensils and equipment
  • They use simple, less costly and readily available ingredients
  • They can be made to freeze or keep in the fridge.
