I’m fortunate enough to have several Serbian colleagues so when I asked for a traditional Serbian snack: Komplet Lepinja was the answer they all gave
A word of warning that this dish is highly calorific so it’s going to be great for sharing
Preheat the oven to 220 C
Slice the top of the crusty roll off and keep to one side as we’ll use it later
Mix the double cream and eggs together and pour into the bottom half of the crusty roll
Fry the bacon in a frying pan until crisp and most importantly, reserve the bacon fat!
Pop the bottom halves of the rolls into the oven and cook for 10 minutes. Just before you remove the bottom rolls from the oven, soak the tops of the crusty rolls into the bacon fat
Take the bottoms out the oven, place the cooked bacon and the soaked tops on them again and put back in for a few more minutes
Take the rolls out the oven and let them cool for a while as they’ll be hot
